Drug Uses
Albenza is a medicament used to treat active lesions caused by larval forms of pork tapeworm. It may also be used to treat direases caused by larval form of dog tapeworm.
How Taken
Albenza is a medicament to be taken with food.
Warnings/Precautions
Albenza may cause harm to fetus, so it can't be used while pregnant. Routine monitoring of blood counts and liver functions is required, due to possible harm that Albenza may cause to blood and bone marrow. If you are planning to become bregnant up to 1 month after treatment you should notify your doctor because of fetal harm that Albenza may cause.
Missed Dose
When dose missed you should take one as soon as remembered. It is not recommended to double up dose to catch up.
Possible Side Effects
Albenza doesn't have serious side effects, all of these may be resolved without treatment.
Storage
Albenza should be stored in temperatures between 20° and 25°C (68° and 77°F).
Overdose
Emergency medical treatment is needed when suspecting overdose.
More Information
You should notify your doctor if you have benzimidazole class or any other components of Albenza hypersensitivity.
