Drug Usage

Allegra is used for relief in seasonal allergic symptoms such as rheums, sneezing, itchy nose/throat/eyes, watery and red eyes etc. in children over 6 years age and adults. Effective treatment for sneezing, rhinorrhea, itchy nose/palate/throat, itchy/watery/red eyes.

Dosing

Allegra comes in form of a capsule or tablet for oral usage. Usual dosing is twice a day, morning and evening. Carefully follow your doctor's instructions. Each dose is to be taken with full glass of water.

Warnings/Precautions

Allegra cannot be taken when there is an allergic reaction to it's components. Before usage your doctor need to be notified of any heart, kidney or liver diseases. When there are some illnesses dosage adjustment or special monitoring. FDA pregnancy category for Allegra is C, which means that it's unknown whether Allegra will harm an unborn baby. Allegra can not be taken without consultation with your doctor during pregnancy. Allegra is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.

Missed Dose

When dose is missed, Allegra should be used as soon as you remember. When the time to next dose is near missed dose should be skipped and usual dosing should be resumed. It's not recommended to double the dose to catch up.

Side Effects

Emergency medical attention is needed while experiencing allergic reaction such as swelling of the lips, tongue or face, difficulty breathing, closing of the throat. Allergic reactions occurs rarely and there are little possibility for other side effects. It's more likely for some less serious side effects to occur. When experiencing nausea or upset stomach there's no need to give up Allegra, but you should to consult your doctor, also when experiencing other unusual or bothersome side effects not mentioned here.

Storage

Allegra should be stored in a controlled room temperature 20-25°C (68-77°F). Foil-backed blister packs containing Allegra capsules and all tablet packaging should be protected from excessive moisture.

Overdose

Allegra overdose signs are: dizziness, drowsiness, and dry mouth. Seek emergency medical attention.

More Information

Your doctor need to be informed about any other medication you may use, especially: MAO inhibitors, certain blood pressure drugs, digoxin, and all adrenaline-like drugs. Drugs affecting heart rhythm should be reported. You should check labels on any other nonprescription medicines that contain antihistamines and decongestants. Allegra should not be taken for several days before allergy testing, since it may affect the results. Any medicine shouldn't be started or stopped without approval from doctor or pharmacist.
