Drug Uses
Atarax is a medication for relieving anxiety and tension associated with psychoneurosis and adjunction in organic diseases in which anxiety is manifested.
How Taken
Adult dosage is 50-100 mg daily, children under six years of age - 50 mg, over six years 50 to 100 mg daily in divided doses.
Warnings/Precautions
It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk, so caution need to be used when breast feeding or pregnancy.
Missed Dose
Missed dose should be taken as soon as remembered, unless it's about time for next dose. If so next scheduled dose should be taken, and doses shouldn't be doubled to catch up.
Possible Side Effects
Side effects of Atarax are rather mild and transitory. These effects include dry mouth and drowsiness.
Storage
Atarax need to be stored in a dark and dry place, in low temperatures. It should be kept out of the reach of children.
Overdose
Hypersedation is a common effect of Atarax overdose. Medical attention may be needed when suspecting overdose.
