Drug Uses
Buspar is a treatment for general anxiety disorder. Buspar influences the unbalanced chemicals in your brain that are causing anxiety.
How Taken
Buspar need to be taken exactly as prescribed. Symptoms will improve after week of starting this medicament, however it may take up to four weeks for the benefit to be apparent. Buspar may be taken with food or drink if causing stomach upsets.
Warnings/Precautions
You should notify your doctor of any drug allergies and kidney or liver disease before starting treatment with Buspar. Alertness requiring activities may be performed with caution, as Buspar may cause drowsiness or dizziness. If you are pregnant or breast feeding you should consult your doctor, because it is not known if this drug passes into breast milk.
Missed Dose
Missed dose can be taken as soon as you remember about it. However if it's near time for next scheduled dose you should continue to take Buspar as scheduled. You shouldn't double the doses.
Possible Side Effects
You should consult your doctor if experiencing such bothersome effects as drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, weakness, vivid dreams, sleeplessness, dry skin, blurred vision, altered sense of taste and smell, weight gain, muscle aches, ringing in the ears, nausea, and headaches. Less common side effects that may occur should also be reported to your doctor, those effects include abnormal movements or "twitches" of the face or neck muscles, other involuntary movements or tremors, depression, confusion, incoordination, chest pain, breathing difficulties. Other effects that weren't listed above may also occur and should be reported to your doctor.
Storage
Buspar should be kept in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children, stored at room temperature, away from excess heat and moisture. Expired medication shouldn't be kept.
Overdose
If experiencing overdose symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, and decreased pupil size you should contact local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
More Information
You should inform your doctor of any other drugs and medicaments you currently use, especially other drugs for anxiety or depression, azole or macrolide antibiotics, haloperidol, narcotic pain medications. Eating of grapefruits and drinking it's juice is not recommended while taking Buspar.
