Drug Uses
Celexa is an medicament type called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Celexa influences certain chemicals in the brain, which are responsible for depression. Celexa is depression treatment.
How Taken
Celexa may be taken with or without food, once daily. This treatment should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Full effect occurs after few weeks of regular Celexa treatment. You should not give up taking Celexa before consulting with your doctor.
Warnings/Precautions
Your doctor need to be notofied of any kidney or liver diseases, seizures, manias or suicidal thoughts. If you had allergic reaction when taking Celexa earlier you should let your doctor know. Celexa has FDA's C category, which means that it is unknown whether Celexa will be harmful to an unborn baby. You should let your doctor know if you are, or may become pregnant during treatment with Celexa. When breast-feeding you should first consult your doctor, because Celexa passes into breast milk.
Missed Dose
Missed dose should be taken as soon as you remember about it. When next dose should be taken, skip the missed one and continue regular schedule. You shouldn't take two doses at a time.
Possible Side Effects
While using Celexa the most common side effect are sexual problems in male patients. Other side effects include nausea and sleepiness.
Storage
Celexa should be stored at room temperature in dry place.
Overdose
Most often symptoms that occurs during overdose of Celexa include dizziness, sweating, nausea and tremor. In rare cases coma, confusion, amnesia or convulsions may occur.
More Information
When using Celexa caustion should be applied while driving and operating heavy machinery. When experiencing dizziness those activities should be avoided. Using alcohol with Celexa may increase drowsiness and dizziness.
