Detrol LA capsules are intended to be the treatment for overactive bladder.

How Taken

Detrol LA is formulated either as a tablet or an long-acting capsule to take orally. Tablet is meant to be taken twice a day, and long lasting capsule is usually taken once a day with liquids. You should follow directions given by your doctor. Extended release capsules should be swallowed whole, you should not split, chew or crush them.

Warnings/Precautions

If you have difficulty urinating or blocked intestines you should not take Detrol LA. If you have liver or kidney disease or glaucoma you should notify your doctor about it. FDA categorized Detrol LA as C, which means that it's not known if it can harm an unborn baby or nursing infant. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant or breast feeding a baby then you should consult with your doctor before starting treatment with Detrol LA.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose you should take it as soon as it is possible. If it's time for your next scheduled dose you should skip the missing one. Do not double up a dose.

Possible Side Effects

Emergency medical help is needed when experiencing allergic reaction while using Detrol LA. If you experience other less serious side effects, such as dry mouth, dryness of the eyes, blurred vision or large pupils, upset stomach, headache, constipation, difficulty urinating, drowsiness, or dizziness you should notify your doctor. Your doctor need to be notified also about any other bothersome side effects not mentioned above.

Storage

Detrol LA should be stored at controlled room temperature 20° to 25° C (68° to 77° F).

Overdose

Seek emergency medical attention. Symptoms of Detrol LA overdose are not known but Exact symptoms of Detrol LA overdose are not known, but may include restlessness, tremor, irritability, seizures, delirium, hallucinations, flushing, fever, nausea, vomiting, a fast heartbeat and possibly coma. Emergency medical attention is needed.

Detrol LA may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision, so caution should be applied when driving or operating heavy machinery. Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while taking Detrol LA., so it should be used with caution. Detrol also may decrease sweating, so it increases the risk of overheating and in consequence heat stroke. When using Detrol LA you should drink a lot of liquids.
