Drug Uses

Effexor XR is a potent inhibitor of serotonine and norepinephrine-two, which play inportant role in physiology of depression. Balancing these two chemicals helps relieve depression symptoms.

How Taken

Effexor should be taken with food once a day. Each capsule should be swallowed whole, or eventually opened and mixed with teaspoon of some sauce. Capsule itself shouldn't be chewed, crushed or placed in water. Full glass of water is needed after capsule swallowing to ensure proper dosage.

Warnings/Precautions

Your doctor need to be notified of any medicaments you are currently using before starting treatment with Effexor XR. You should let your doctor about any other non-prescription or even herbal medicaments. Effexor XR shouldn't be taken along with MAOIs. Blood pressure should be monitored regularry, as Effexor XR is known to cause increased blood pressure in some patients. Discontinuation symptoms may ooccur when lowering the dose or stopping usage of Effexor XR. Pregnant or nursing women shouldn't take Effexor XR without consultation with doctor. Activities such as drivin or operating machinery should be avoided. While using Effexor XR alcohol should be avoided also.

Missed Dose

When missed dose Effexor XR should be used as soon as you remember. When the time to next dose is near missed dose should be skipped and usual dosing should be resumed. It's not recommended to double the dose to catch up.

Possible Side Effects

Immediate medical attention is needed when experiencing following side effects - allergical reaction, seizure or irregular heartbeat. When less serious effects occur- such as nausea or vomiting - you should consult your doctor. You should also consult your doctor when experiencing side effects not mentioned above, that became frequent or bothersome.

Storage

Effexor XR should be stored at room temperature (68F to 77F or 20C to 25C), away from the reach of children.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose include dizziness, seizures, drowsiness or numbness. Emergency attention is needed when suspecting overdose of Effexor XR.

More Information

If you experience drowsiness or dizziness you should avoid driving or operating heavy machinery. Alcohol may increase the effect of dizziness and drowsiness, so it should be used with caution. You shouldn't stop using Effexor XR immediately before consulting a doctor, because of unpleasant side effects that may occur.
