Drug Uses

Flexeril is treatment for muscle pains, that is caused by muscle injuries, such as strains, sprains and spasms. Active ingredient in this medicament is cyclobenzaprine.

How Taken

Flexeril dose is one tablet (10 mg) three times a day. Total dose of 60 mg daily should not be exceeded. If causing stomach upsets Flexeril may be taken with food. Flexeril should be taken exactly as prescribed.

Warnings/Precautions

If you have or had such conditions in the past you should notify your doctor: glaucoma, an overactive thyroid gland, heart disease, difficulty urinating or any allergies. In such cases you may need a dose adjustment or different medication. If you are pregnant or breast feeding a baby you should also inform your doctor about it.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose take it as soon as remembered, if it's not longer than an hour. If you do not remember until later you should skip the missed dose and resume your usual schedule. You shouldn't double your dose to catch up.

Possible Side Effects

In the first days of taking Flexeril it may cause stomach upsets, heartburns, constipation, headaches, dizziness or drowsiness or dry mouth. If these symptoms won't stop or become worse you should notify your doctor. Also side effects such as muscle stiffness, skin rash, itching, rapid heart rate, swelling of the face, difficulty urinating need to be reported to your doctor. Flexeril may cause dizziness or lightheadedness when rising quickly to a standing position.

Storage

Flexeril need to be stored outside of the reach of children, at temperatures of 15 - 30°C (59-86°F).

Overdose

If following symptoms occur - difficulty breathing, extreme nervousness or restlessness, flushed skin, hallucination, racing or irregular heartbeat, seizure, shortness of breath, extreme tiredness, unstable temperature, unusual muscle stiffness or vomiting, you may have overdosed Flexiril. In such case you should seek medical help immediately.
