Drug Uses

Flonase is a relievant to rheum nasal symptoms. Flonase Nasal Spray is meant to help with nasal mucosa administration.

How Taken

Flonase should be taken regularly, accordingly to doctor's prescription, because it's effectiveness relies on regular dosage. Recommended stating dosage is 2 sprays in each nostril once a day (200 mcg daily dose), or the same dose twice a day (eg morning and evening). After few days dosage may be reduced to 100 mcg. In some cases the dosage of 200 mcg daily may be needed (during seasonal allergies), but only with patients over 12 years of age.

Warnings/Precautions

Before starting treatment your doctor need to be notified of any viral, bacterial or fungal infections, because of drug absorption, which may affect ability to fight off infections. FDA category for Flonase is C, which means that it's not known if it could harm an unborn baby. When breast feeding consultation with doctor is required, since it's not known whether Flonase passes into breast milk. Flonase shouldn't be used by children under 4 years of age.

Missed Dose

When dose missed, Flonase should be used as soon as you remember. When the time to next dose is near missed dose should be skipped and usual dosing should be resumed. It's not recommended to double the dose to catch up.

Possible Side Effects

Flonase Nasal Spray doesn't have serious side effects. The only side effect that require emergency medical attention is an allergic reaction to Flonase or one of it's components. Speak with your doctor if you experience sneezing after application, bleeding from the nostrils, yeast infection, nausea, cough, asthma symptoms, or other unusual or bothersome side effects.

Storage

Flonase should be stored out of reach of children, in temperatures
between 4° and 30°C (39° and 86°F). Flonase shouldn't be used after expiration date.

Overdose

When suspecting overdose of Flonase you should seek advice in emergency room or poison control center.

More Information

Activities or items that you know are allergens should be avoided. You should stay away from the people with chicken pox or any other infection, because of weakening immune system when using Flonase.
