Drug Uses
Lamisil Tablets are medication used for treating of onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail.
How Taken
Lamisil tablets are usually taken once daily for six weeks when treating fingernail fungi, or for twelve weeks when treating toenail fungi. Lamisil need to be taken exactly as prescribed. Your fungus may not be completely healed until few months after finishing taking Lamisil, because of time it takes for a healthy nail to grow in.
Warnings/Precautions
If you have kidney or liver disease, problems with immune system, blood problems or allergic reaction to Lamisil you should notify your doctor before starting treatment. Lamisil isn't expected to harm an unborn baby, but it passes into breast milk, so if you are pregnant or breast feeding a baby you should consult your doctor before treatment begins.
Missed Dose
Missed dose should be taken as soon as remembered, unless it's about time for next dose. If so next scheduled dose should be taken, and doses shouldn't be doubled to catch up.
Possible Side Effects
Serious side effects of taking Lamisil include allergic reaction, a rash, changes in vision and blood problems. If such problems occur you should stop taking Lamisil and consult your doctor immediately. In rare cases Lamisil may cause severe liver damage that could require liver transplant or even death. If you experience nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, unusual fatigue, loss of appetite, yellow skin or eyes, itching, dark urine, or clay colored stools, you should immediately notify your doctor, as you may be experiencing early symbols of liver damage. You may also experience other, less serious side effects. If they become unusual or especially bothersome you may need to consult your doctor.
Storage
Lamisil should be stored in a tight container, protected from light, below temperature of 25°C (77°F).
Overdose
Symptoms of Lamisil overdose include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, rash, frequent urination, and headache. You should seek emergency medical attention when suspecting overdose.
More Information
Mixing alcohol while taking Lamisil can seriously damage your liver. You should not take Liamisil if you are hypersensitive to it or any of it's ingredients.
