Drug Uses
Lexapro antidepressant is a member of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Lexapro advantages in the treatment of depressionand anxiety disorders.
How Taken
Lexapro may be taken with or without food, usually once daily. It comes as a tablet and a liquid. Dosage should be exact as prescribed by doctor. It has to be taken regularly for few weeks before full effects are felt.
Warnings/Precautions
Liver or kidney diseases, seizures, manias or suicidal tendencies should be notified to your doctor, as it may affect your dosage. Lexapro shouldn't be taken wlong with Celexa, and your doctor need to be notified if you had any allergic reactions to this medicament or Celexa in the past. This medicament has the FDA category C, so it means that it should not harm an unborn baby. If you are pregnant, or plan to become pregnant during treatment you should let your doctor know. Lexapro passes to breast milk, and you should consult your doctor if breast feeding as this medicament may affect nursing baby.
Missed Dose
You should take missed dose as soon as you remember, but not if it's near time to take next dose, unless told so by doctor.
Possible Side Effects
Your doctor need to be notified and/or emergency medical treatment may be needed if you experience any of the following side effects: an allergic reaction, irregular heartbeat or pulse, low blood pressure, high blood pressure or chills or fever. The following less serious side effects should be reported to your doctor: headache, tremor, nervousness, or anxiety, nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, or changes in appetite or weight, sleepiness or insomnia, or decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm. Other side effects may also occur. In that case you should let your doctor know about it, if it seems unusual or bothersome.
Storage
Lexapro should be stored at room temperature, in a dry dark place.
Overdose
Overdose of Lexapro symptoms are nausea, vomiting, tremor, drowsiness, dizziness and a fast heartbeat. You should seek emergency medical attention when experiencing those.
