Drug Uses
FDA approved Nasacort as a treatment for nasal symptoms of allergies. Nasacort is an unscented, water based spray formula, containing microcrystallines of triamcinolone acetonide in an aqueous medium.
How Taken
Nasacort Nasal Spray is to be inhaled by nose, usually one to four times a day. Nasal passages should be gently cleared prior to using Nasacort. After 15 minutes of inhaling you should avoid blowing your nose.
Warnings/Precautions
Before starting treatment your doctor need to be notified of any viral, bacterial or fungal infections, because of drug absorption, which may affect ability to fight off infections. FDA category for Nasacort is C, which means that it's not known if it could harm an unborn baby. When breast feeding consultation with doctor is required, since it's not known whether Nasacort passes into breast milk. Nasacort is not suitable for children under 12 years of age.
Missed Dose
When missed dose, Nasacort should be used as soon as you remember. When the time to next dose is near missed dose should be skipped and usual dosing should be resumed. It's not recommended to double the dose to catch up.
Possible Side Effects
Nasacort may cause unpleasant feeling in the nasal passages. Other side effects include loss of taste, bleeding from nostrils, headaches or nausea. If these effects last longer than first few days, or become bothersome you should consult your doctor. When experiencing persistent nose or throat irritation, broken or damaged nasal membranes, weight loss or vomiting you should immediately consult your doctor, also when experiencing long lasting other effects not listed above.
Storage
Nasacort should be stored in dry and dark place, out of the reach of children, in temperatures varying from 20 to 25°C (68 to 77°F). Nasacort may become unusable when frozen.
Overdose
When suspecting overdose of Nasacort you should seek advice in emergency room or poison control center.
More Information
Activities or items that you know are allergens should be avoided. You should stay away from the people with chicken pox or any other infection, because of weakening immune system during Nasacort treatment.
