Drug Uses
Nasonex is a spray treatment for allergy symptoms, such as itchy nose, sneezing and rheums, caused by pollens, dust or pet danders. Nasonex is a corticosteroid demonstrating anti-inflammatory properties. The Corticosteroids have been shown to have a wide range of effects on multiple cell types.
How Taken
Nasonex should be well shaken before application. Follow your pharmacist instructions regarding spray application carefully. You shouldn't use the drug longer or more often than prescribed. Full benefits are achieved when used regularry. Improvement should occur after 2 days and full benefit should be achieved after 1-2 weeks of use.
Warnings/Precautions
Before starting treatment your doctor need to be notified of any viral, bacterial or fungal infections, or recent nasal surgery or nasal damage, because of drug absorption, which may affect ability to fight off infections. FDA category for Nasonex is C, which means that it's not known if it could harm an unborn baby. When breast feeding consultation with doctor is required, since it's not known whether Nasonex passes into breast milk. Nasonex shouldn't be used by children under 3 years of age.
Missed Dose
When dose missed, Nasonex should be used as soon as you remember. When the time to next dose is near missed dose should be skipped and usual dosing should be resumed. It's not recommended to double the dose to catch up.
Possible Side Effects
When using Nasonex headache or sore throat might occur. You should notify your doctor if those effects last longer or worsen. Also when encountering vision changes, nasal bleeding or pain, blood tainted phlegm or mucus or nausea doctor need to be informed immediately. When allergic reaction occurs, such as swelling, dizziness, rash or trouble breathing you should seek emergency medical help.
Storage
Nasonex should be stored at 25°C (77°F); or in temperature within range of 15-30°C (59-86°F) in a dark place. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, brief exposure, as with normal usage is acceptable.
Overdose
When suspecting overdose of Nasonex you should seek advice in emergency room or poison control center.
More Information
Activities or items that you know are allergens should be avoided. You should stay away from the people with chicken pox or any other infection, because of weakening immune system when using Nasonex.
