Drug Uses
Soma is a pain and stiffness relievant medicament, used to relieve pains and stiffness caused by muscle spasms, strains and sprain.
How Taken
Usual dose of Soma is one tablet (350 mg) three times a day and before bedtime. You may take Soma with food or milk to decrease upset stomach. Soma is not recommended for children under age of 12.
Warnings/Precautions
If you have acute intermittent porphyria you shouldn't take Soma. Any liver disease need to be notified to doctor before treatment begins. It's not known if Soma can harm an unborn baby or if it passes into breast milk, so if you are pregnant or breast feeding you should also notify your doctor. Soma shouldn't be taken by children under 12 years old.
Missed Dose
If you miss a Soma dose, take it as soon as remembered if it is within an hour or so. If you do not remember until later, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not 'double-up' the Soma dose to catch up.
Possible Side Effects
If you are taking Soma for the first time during first few days following symptoms may occur: dizziness, vertigo, ataxia, tremor, agitation, irritability, headache, depressive reactions, syncope, and insomnia, and occasionally allergic or idiosyncratic reactions. If those symptoms won't stop or worsen you should consult your doctor.
Storage
Soma should be stored in a tight container, at temperatures of 15°-30°C (59°-86°F).
Overdose
Soma overdose causes low blood pressure, decreased breathing and unconsciousness . You should seek emergency medical attention.
More Information
Since Soma may cause drowsiness or dizziness caution should be applied when driving, operating heavy machinery or performing other hazardous activities. Alcohol may increase the effects of drowsiness and dizziness.
