Drug Uses
Sumycin is used to treat or prevent infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
How Taken
Sumycin daily dose is usually between one to 2 grams, but exact dosage need to be defined by doctor. Therapy should continue up to 48 hours after the symptoms have subsided.
Warnings/Precautions
If you are hypersensitive to tetracyclines you should notify your doctor before starting treatment. Using this medication in the absence of bacterial infection is unlikely to provide benefit, and may cause development of drug-resistant bacteria.
Missed Dose
If you miss doses or don't complete full course of therapy the effectiveness of this medicament will not be full. Additionally there is a chance to develop a drug resistant bacteria.
Possible Side Effects
When treating with Sumycin you may eventually experience following side effects: anorexia, epigastric distress, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bulky loose stools, stomatitis, sore throat, glossitis, black hairy tongue, dysphagia, hoarseness, enterocolitis, and inflammatory lesions in the anogenital region.
Storage
Sumycin should be stored at room temperature, in tight, light resistant containers, out of the reach of children.
Overdose
When suspecting overdose you should seek emergency medical attention.
More Information
Periodic evaluation of organ system function, including renal, hepatic, and hematopoietic systems, should be performed, when undergoing a long therapy.
