Drug Uses

Ultracet is a unique painkiller used to relieve from the pains of surgical procedures, including dental surgery. It may also be used for other types of pain as determined by your health care provider.

How Taken

Ultracet need to be taken exactly as directed by your doctor. Usual shouldn't be taken in doses exceeding two tablets at once or eight tablets daily. If experiencing stomach upsets Ultracet may be taken with a food or milk. As higher doses may cause severe side effects, Ultracet dosage shouldn't be exceeded.

Warnings/Precautions

If you have allergic reaction to codeine then you shouldn't take Ultracet. You should notify your doctor immediately if you experience severe rash, hives, breathing difficulties, or dizziness, difficulty breathing, tightness of chest, swelling of eyelids, face or lips, because it may mean that you have an allergic reaction. Ultracet may be habit forming, so you should not exceed recommended dose. Drinking alcohol or taking other products that contain acetaminophen is prohibited when taking Ultracet. If you have any medical or dental treatment you should tell your doctor about taking Ultracet. Ultracet passes into breast milk, do not breast feed while taking Ultracet.

Missed Dose

Take only specified doses. Do not take double or extra doses.

Possible Side Effects

Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:
If you experience such uncommon side effects: changes in vision, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, fast or irregular heartbeat, hallucinations, not passing urine as often as usual, redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth, skin rash, itching, convulsions, yellow tint to your skin or whites of your eyes notify your doctor immediately. Other side effects that need to be reported to your doctor include anxiety, agitation, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, false sense of well being, feeling of unreality, mood changes, headache, indigestion, itching, nausea, sweating or flushing.

Storage

Keep Ultracet away from children in a container that may not be opened by small children. Store at temperatures varying from 15 to 30°C (59-86°F). Expired medicament need to be thrown away.

Overdose

Overdose symptoms include nausea; vomiting; sweating; difficulty breathing; shallow, weak breathing; and seizures. When experiencing those seek immediate medical help.

More Information

Ultracet contains acetaminophen, and shouldn't be mixed with alcohol or sleeping pills, tranquilizers, sedatives or antihistamines, as this may cause damage to your liver. Caution should be applied when driving or operating heavy machinery.
