Drug Uses

Wellbutrin is a prescription antidepressant, which acts directly on the brain and nerves. It is also used to treat ADD, chronic fatigue syndrome, various addictions and back pains. It is chemically unrelated to other antidepressants.

How Taken

Wellbutrin may be taken with or without food up to three times a day. It should be taken exactly as prescribed by doctor. You shouldn't stop using Wellbutrin suddenly, especially if you have taken large doses for a long time. Wellbutrin has to be taken regularly for a few weeks before all of it's benefits are felt.

Warnings/Precautions

Your doctor need to be notified if you had a history of seizures, liver or kidney disease, eating disorders, alcohol dependence or intend to quit smoking. Before getting used to drug effects you may need to avoid driving or operating heavy machinery, since this drug causes dizziness. Alcohol consumption can increase risk of seizures, so you should avoid using alcohol beverages. If you are over 65 years you may notice increase in Wellbutrin effects. This drug passes into breast milk, so breast feeding is not recommended, if you are breast feeding you should notify your doctor about it.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose you can take one as soon as you remember about it. If it's almost time for next dose you should resume your normal dosing schedule. Do not double-dose to catch up for a missed one.

Possible Side Effects

This medication generally has no serious side effects, but it eventually may occur some of those: unusual weight loss or gain, palpitations, agitation, trouble sleeping. Unlikely but report promptly: tremor, dizziness, fainting, mood changes, slowed movements, difficulty urinating, decreased sex drive, and drowsiness. When experiencing those you should notify your doctor, also when experiencing other side effects, not mentioned above.

Storage

Wellbutrin should be stored in light resistant container in temperature of 20°- 25° C(68°- 77° F).

Overdose

Overdose symptoms include seizures, hallucinations loss of consciousness, fast heartbeat or even heart attack. You should seek emergency medical attention when suspecting overdose.

More Information

Getting up from a sitting or lying position should be performed slowly, because of faint possibility when getting up fast. Also you should limit consumption of caffeine when treating with Wellbutrin.
