Drug Uses

Zanaflex is a relaxant used to help in a spasms caused by multiple sclerosis and spinal injuries. It is sometimes prescribed in other problems, as directed by your doctor.

How Taken

Zanaflex is usually taken twice or three times a day. This medication is intended to be taken exactly as prescribed. Dosage shouldn't be exceeded.

Warnings/Precautions

If you have liver or kidney disease, low blood pressure, or taking pills for high blood pressure or birth control pills you need to notify your doctor. It is not known if Zanaflex causes harm to unborn baby or if it passes into breast milk, so if you are pregnant or breast feeding you should consult your doctor.

Missed Dose

When taking several doses daily missed dose may be taken as soon as you remember. However if it's near time for next scheduled dose you shouldn't double it to make up for a missed one.

Possible Side Effects

If you experience severe side effects such as dizziness, upset stomach, vomiting, tingling sensation in the arms, legs, hands, and feet, dry mouth, increased muscle spasms you should consult your doctor.

Storage

This medication needs to be kept in a container it came in, tightly closed and out of the reach of children. It should be stored in a dark and dry place. Outdated medication need to be thrown away.

Overdose

Symptoms of Zanaflex overdose include unconsciousness and irregular breathing. When experiencing those you should seek emergency medical attention.

More Information

If you are taking other relaxants or sleep or anxiety medicines or using alcohol while treatment with Zanaflex you may experience drowsiness and dizziness. When getting up quickly from a lying position dizziness is most likely to occur.
