Drug Uses
Zithromax is a treatment for many different bacterial infections, such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis and sexually transmitted diseases.
How Taken
Zithromax is formulated as capsules, tablets and liquid. It is usually taken orally, once a day for two to five days. Zithromax is to be taken exactly as prescribed. Liquid form need to be well shaken before application, and taken 1 hour before or 2 after meals, as for tablets and capsules - they need to be taken with full glass of water with or without food. If experiencing stomach sensations it should be taken with food.
Warnings/Precautions
Liver disease need to be notified to doctor before starting treatment with Zithromax. This medication doesn't harm an unborn baby, but pregnancy or pregnancy plans, or breast feeding need to be reported to doctor.
Missed Dose
Missed dose can be taken as soon as you remember, however if it's near time of next scheduled dose you should skip the dose and take next one as scheduled. Double dosing is not recommended, unless specified by doctor.
Possible Side Effects
Serious possible side effects include allergic reaction and liver damage, if you experience such you should notify your doctor. Less serious side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or dizziness, rash etc. may also occur. Your doctor needs to be notified also about this effects, or any other bothersome side effects.
Storage
Tablets should be stored in temperatures between 15° and 30° C (59° to 86°F). Suspension liquid should be stored tightly closed, between 5° and 30°C (41° to 86°F) and discarded when full dosing is completed or within 10 days.
Overdose
Zithromax overdose symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and feelingof discomfort. You should seek emergency medical attention.
More Information
Zithromax may cause increased sensitivity to sunlight, so you should use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing and avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight.
