Zyban is an treatment for aid in smoking cessation.

How Taken

Usual dosage of Zyban is one tablet twice a day, taken with or without food. Tablets of Zyban need to be taken whole, not chewed or crushed.

Warnings/Precautions

If you have taken any MAOI during the last two weeks you shouldn't use Zyban. FDA categorized Zyban as not harmful to an unborn baby, and it is unknown if Zyban is harmful to a nursing baby, so if you are pregnant, or nursing a baby you should consult with your doctor before starting treatment.

Missed Dose

When missed a dose you shouldn't take extra one to catch up with the schedule. It is important not to increase dosage, or you may have a seizure.

Possible Side Effects

Most common side effect of using Zyban include dry mouth and difficulty sleeping, but those effects are rather mild and should disappear after few weeks of taking Zyban. When experiencing difficulty sleeping you may want not to take Zyban before bedtime. In some cases Zyban may cause high blood pressure. If you happen to experience a skin rash, hives, fever, swollen lymph glands, painful sores in the mouth or around the eyes, or swelling of lips or tongue, tell a doctor immediately, since these symptoms may be the first signs of a serious allergic reaction.

Storage

Zyban need to be stored at room temperature away from direct sunlight. Zyban need to be stored in a tightly closed container, away from the reach of children.

Overdose

Zyban overdose symptoms include seizures, hallucinations, loss of consciousness, weakness, a fast heartbeat, and heart attack. When suspecting Zyban overdose you need to seek emergency medical attention.

More Information

While taking Zyban alcohol need to be used in moderate amounts or completely avoided, as drinking may increase chance for seizures. Hoowever if you drink alcohol regularry you need to consult your doctor, as suddenly stopping drinking may also increase the risk of seizure. You need to be cautious while driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities, because Zyban may cause dizziness or drowsiness.
